While some may disagree that the best cure to a late night of boozing is more booze and a starchy, fat-enriched meal, I happen to think it is just want the doctor ordered. When I awoke on this particular Saturday, I knew just where to go to get my fix. The elixir of choice this morning would be a spicy, tangy bloody mary from Logan Tavern. Their Extensive “make your own” menu is no secret to a Tavern regular and the drinks never disappoint because they are made exactly the way you want them. Each bloody can look and taste as similar or as different from your neighbor’s.
My bloody was made with organic cucumber vodka, spicy tomato juice, horseradish, balsamic vinegar, fresh lime juice and garnished with a dill pickle, celery stalk and crispy shoestring potatoes. The potatoes were a unique touch. I was gobbling those crunchy potatoes down.
My roommate got her bloody garnished with a strip of smoked bacon. mmmnnnmm. She also had Old Bay seasoning and hot sauce in her bloody, which gave hers a nice punch. Both bloodys were super tasty. The cucumber vodka gave a freshness to the cocktail while the balsamic vinegar I put in mine added a nice depth to the flavor of the bloody. The Tavern offers other infused and flavored vodka choices including horseradish and tomato (I’m dying to try the horseradish) and different levels of spicy tomato juice. As you can tell from the pictures, the garnishes are fun and you could also test out crab meat, beef jerky or a truffle salted rim if it suits your fancy.
I’d love to hear what your bloody mary concoction consists of, I’m always open to trying different combinations. I can’t wait to get to get back to Logan Tavern and try out a new bloody combination–watch out bacon because I’m coming for you.
